St Mary’s organ still needs your support!

Music in churches is synonymous with organs. It is their unique sound and volume which makes them such special musical instruments; it is impossible to imagine a church service without an organ.

The organ is a living, breathing machine and, as with any musical instrument, organs need to be cared for.  Over time parts wear out, leather perishes, dust accumulates, and the organ begins to suffer from excessive wind noise and becomes more difficult to play.

The time has come to give our organ some care and attention. Recently, it has been showing signs of fatigue and the following repairs are required:

• Re-leathering of bellow and strapping
• Replacement of leaking gaskets
• Replacement of antiquated blower cabinet
• Re-tuning

The cost of these repairs is £14,400.
