For over 16 years, "Caring for God’s Acre" has been encouraging all who help to look after churchyards, chapel yards and cemeteries to celebrate these fantastic places during the lovely month of June. Viewing our Veteran Yew Trees
Were you aware that St Mary the Virgin has 5 ancient yew trees in its churchyard? A solid and respectful remnant of a bygone age, but still growing fast, furiously and healthily into the 21st century. Please come and explore the churchyard, as they are magnificent. This year, in collaboration with Love Your Yew Week 2026, a group of enthusiastic volunteers has been trimming the ground beneath the yew trees to give these ancient specimens the best support possible in 2026.
