St Mary's PCC needs to make essential repairs to the roof and gutters which were highlighted in the recent inspection by the architect. The slates on the chancel roof are slipping and need to be removed, new battens applied, and the slates re-laid. As part of part commitment to Net Zero we will take the opportunity to lay new thermal insulation. Repairs are also needed to the vestry roof. While scaffolding is up, repairs will be undertaken to the rainwater

Music in churches is synonymous with organs. It is their unique sound and volume which makes them such special musical instruments; it is impossible to imagine a church service without an organ. The organ is a living, breathing machine and, as with any musical instrument, organs need to be cared for.  Over time parts wear out, leather perishes, dust accumulates, and the organ begins to suffer from excessive wind noise and becomes more difficult to play. The time has come to give

One of the most enticing stalls at the fete is the one selling local produce. However for it to be enticing it needs that local produce! It is beyond question that there are many skills within the village - be it jam-making, growing vegetables, knitting clothing, oh, the list could go on. It would be wonderful if you were able to donate some of that industry to our local produce stall. Jacqui Earl will gladly receive such donations - there is a box

“What shall we do with that rather odd bottle of wine that someone brought to our last supper party?” is one question. Another might be “Don’t the Blenkinsopps know that we can’t cope with chilli jam”. "That bottle of Limoncello was such a good idea on that sun-drenched beach in Puglia but as the rain beats down at home…..”. And so the questions and observations rumble on but now there is a wonderful opportunity. You can donate all such spoils

It was a morning for plantaholics! We had more plants than ever before, the sun shone, and you turned up in droves. Thank you to everyone who came to the St Mary’s Plant Sale on 22nd May. It really was a hugely enjoyable morning, and we are very grateful to all who helped make it a successful event. Thank you to everyone who donated plants, cakes and their time. A wonderful £720 was raised for St Mary’s.

We will be holding a spring churchyard clean up session on Easter Saturday - 19th April from 9.30am-12.30am. If you were able to pop over and and lend a hand Russell and his team of gardeners tidy up the church yard it would be very much appreciated. Refreshments will be provided. Bring your own tools if you have any although a variety are available. With many thanks from Russell - chief in charge of the upkeep of the churchyard.
