It may only be March but diaries fill at a disturbing rate! So, one for the diary – this year’s Micheldever fete will be on Saturday 20 June. As always, the fete promises to be a fun afternoon for all the family with all the essential components – Bar, BBQ, band, dog show, stalls, children’s corner and more. Plans are also progressing well for an additional attraction this year – a display of cars that for most of us we can only dream about. We already have some fascinating entries – who can remember the Hotchkiss (no you can’t), the joy of an Instagram photo next to a Ferrari (you never know, they might think it is yours), a limited edition Aston Martin (hasn’t everyone got one) and more. If you are the proud owner of a special car, do think about coming forward to display it – see the attached notice.

Whilst talking about coming forward, time takes its toll. The fete has been run by some long standing stalwarts but the time has come for some new blood. Under the chairmanship of Phil Smith, last year proved that the fete can be organised without unpopular, time consuming, regular committee meetings. The mantra is “volunteer to take on a task and do it”. The key word is “volunteer” – we need more to step up and help.
