What is happening at St Mary’s this Autumn?  St Mary’s is undergoing urgent roof repairs due to slipping slates and failing fixings. Scaffolding will be erected around St Mary’s in late October for essential roof repairs. Repairs are expected to last about a month. The repairs involve removing slates, fitting new battens, re-laying slates, and adding insulation to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint. ​ The total cost of the repairs is £43,000; fundraising efforts are ongoing, and donations are requested from the

St Mary's PCC needs to make essential repairs to the roof and gutters which were highlighted in the recent inspection by the architect. The slates on the chancel roof are slipping and need to be removed, new battens applied, and the slates re-laid. As part of part commitment to Net Zero we will take the opportunity to lay new thermal insulation. Repairs are also needed to the vestry roof.
